There is much more in the Haupt Conservatory inside the NY Botanical Garden than the Orchid Show. There are different areas dedicated to deserts, rain forests, palms, and carnivorous plants. Here are a few of the highlights I saw.
This looks like a fruit with leaves and petals.
A very interesting and colorful flower.
These thorns are the size of my fist in some cases.
A view from above into the rain forest.
Looks like a pineapple with tentacles.
One of my favorite rooms in the conservatory. I love the play of light and shadow combined with the water.
So much color in one plant.
These look plastic as they fill out into a sphere shape.
These look like elf shoes.
The plants climb under the roof and above the fountain.
Moss and a waterfall.
A cactus that looks like sea coral.
A fuzzy looking cactus.
Looks like a seed pile in a packet.
Very strange growth design.
A lone rose in the midst of the orchids.
A bird of paradise. Very interesting colors and design.
A banana bunch, that I was told about by an older woman who has been coming to the gardens for years.
Detail on the banana bunch.
Next week: Walking around the outside of the NY Botanical Gardens.
